Crystal Cove Island

Crystal Cove Island is a private island found near the south tip of the mainland Boracay. When me and my brother planned our trip, this is our main destination and not the popular island of Bora. Lol. A couple of years ago when we had our vacation in Boracay

Crystal Cove was part of our island hopping adventure. The island rests on a solid rock surrounded by crystal clear waters.  But what caught my attention is the island's structures. The native huts, statues and man made rock formations. It's as if I was in a different dimension. I was in awe...I  never knew a place like that exists here in our country. The island gives a great panoramic view of the South China Sea but the main attraction are the caves/coves. There are two caves in the island, one which has a pool which connects to the sea. The other cave has a tunnel which allows visitors to view the coral shores.

When I saw the island I promised myself that I will be back. This time Crystal Cove will not be part of my sidetrips....it will be my destination.

This is one of the many coral/rock formations found in the island.

How to get there?
You can rent a private boat from Caticlan directly to Crystal Cove or you can ride a ferry going to mainland Boracay. From Boracay, you can rent a boat going to Crystal Cove Island.

Entrance Fee: 200 Pesos

The Lone Traveler

"To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world."
So wrote the great travel writer Freya Stark in her 1932 book "Baghdad Sketches."
It's been my motto traveling solo through 30 countries in 21 years.
I took my first trip alone, to Greece, at 22.
I remember walking to the beach, Nirvana's "Nevermind" blaring in my headphones, and realizing: no one knows where the hell I am.
I've been chasing that euphoric feeling ever since.

Read: All by my selfie: Blogger shows how to take travel photos with imaginary girlfriend. Yet many people who might like to travel alone never do.
They fear getting lonely or being bored.
They worry about danger.
Succumb to these fears, however, and you'll miss out on one of the most addictive travel experiences around.
